Principles of Design.

These concepts will assist my understanding or graphic design by helping me understand what is appealing to the eye and what will sell to a consumer.

CD Cover and Poster Design Reflection.

1) I think my CD cover was the most successful because I took the most time on it and it came out just like how I imagined it would. I envisioned the pictures coming together to form a cube and it came out perfectly.

2) The emphasis I wanted the viewer to gain from my poster was the "out of the box" theme. My theme was Surrealism and I showed that by putting pieces of my artist's faces on a cube and that is very out of the ordinary to me.

3) Yes, I think my CD cover and poster will increase sales based off design alone because the central focus, which is the cube, attracts the eye. It makes you wonder what the tracks will sound like and how they will exemplify the new millennium, which is the title of the album.

4) The most challenging thing about this assignment was getting all the pictures to lay flat on all sides of the cube. I had to use free transform and free distort often to make sure everything looked clean and neat. In the end, all the pictures came together to create a perfectly square cube. I could improve this for upcoming assignments by playing around more with the detail on the background on both the CD cover and the tour poster.

MULTIMEDIA- CD Cover Project

The Surrealism Art Movement made the biggest impact on me. All the spontaneous elements involved with the paintings are what attracted me to this particular art movement. The impact made was definitely a good one because of how inquisitive I am about the Surrealism movement now. There are many bits and pieces that go into surrealistic art because the whole idea is to tie the art back to spontaniety. With using this concept, I feel that this gives artists lots of freedom and allows them to let the viewer have many opinions and perspetives of what they were trying to depict. I do feel that the art movement I chose could sell multiple CD's because using a surrealism base, gives you endless ways of describing and depicting the artist who's music is on the album. "Surrealism is a 20th-century avant-garde movement in art and literature that sought to release the creative potential of the unconscious mind, for example by the irrational juxtaposition of images." In simpler terms, Surrealism is an art movement that taps into your unconscious mind, the place that holds all your fantasies, dreams, and desires. Once you use all those aspects to create art, you end up with something slightly unusual but, amazingly different. I plan to use Surrealism in my CD design by gathering different elements and objects that have no relation and putting them together in order to tell a story that will go along with the artists I chose.
